GoStart – Powered by Volunteers

GoStart is a voluntary organisation, and everything we do is made possible by our volunteers. From hospital appointments and shopping trips to social outings and day trips, every journey happens because someone has chosen to give their time to support others in our community.

Our volunteers are at the heart of GoStart. They help people stay independent, reduce isolation and ensure essential services remain accessible to those who need them most.

All volunteer drivers and passenger assistants are fully trained, hold enhanced DBS checks, and receive safeguarding and MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training. We provide ongoing support and flexible volunteering opportunities to fit around other commitments.

As a voluntary organisation, our services rely entirely on volunteers, and every journey we provide is made possible by people giving their time to help others.

Current volunteer openings include:

Volunteer Drivers

Volunteer drivers play a vital role in helping people stay connected and independent.

We’re looking for friendly drivers who:

• Hold a clean UK driving licence

• Enjoy helping others and working with the public

• Are willing to complete role-specific training and an Enhanced DBS check

• Have some free time they’d like to use to support their community

No professional driving experience is required. Full training and ongoing support are provided.

Passenger Assistants

Passenger Assistants support both passengers and drivers to ensure journeys are safe, comfortable and welcoming.

This role is ideal for someone who:

• Is caring, patient and empathetic

• Can assist passengers on and off vehicles where needed

• Helps ensure journeys run safely and smoothly

• Is happy to complete role-specific training and an Enhanced DBS check

Passenger Assistants are an essential part of the GoStart team and make a real difference to people who may need extra support or reassurance.
